I think our coach journey through Switzerland is one of my favourites. Rolling hills, mountains and snow and not once did I want to take my eyes off of it...

For all those that can call Switzerland home, I’m jealous. Surrounded by mountains and incredible views, it was the next stop after Paris on the Topdeck trip. Although it was a long journey by coach, around ten hours in total, it was definitely worth it!

Driving through it was cool to see how the landscape changed, going from dry flat land to snowy mountains and arriving at night made even more impressive. For me, the landscape of Switzerland won me over and beats any city views. The mountains made me feel so small in comparison and I don’t think the photos do it justice as to how high they were.

I was hoping to do a helicopter ride over the mountains in the day, but it was too windy for the heli to go up meaning I explored the place on foot. We were in a small region where there were lots of small towns in close proximity, and whilst I was there I was constantly asking myself how people live in places

like this and I think that it was all summed up when I was in a jacuzzi at night under the mountains. Surreal.

During the day we were able to explore on foot and then by gondala to get further up the alps. The views were amazing and when the clouds cleared, the scale of things became even more apparent. Going from light snow and grass to heavy snowfall and places covered in snow with just one gondala ride baffled me.

I think Switzerland, and especially the smaller towns in the country I visited, is something I definitely want to go back to. The chilled vibe, which is so far from the surroundings I’m used to, was a really nice escape. I’d definitely miss the city, but for a few weeks I think Switzerland is a place where I’d be able to switch off. Next stop, Italy!
