How I Style My T.M Lewin Suit
When you're investing in a suit there are a lot of options to consider. Perhaps you should take a look at the phoenix?
Whether it’s a wedding, birthday or special occasion, many men who tend not to have a typical office job, see it as the opportune time to invest in a suit. I fall into the wedding category, with my cousin soon to wed. A suit is no impromptu purchase by any means and is something you should really take your time with, because if you choose wisely, you’ll find something that will last you for a number of years before the next event comes around.
With suits, T.M Lewin has been trusted by the 9-5s out there for years, producing quality suits for a rather appealing price point in suit terms. They used to be the regular tailor for the regular suit, but now they offer plenty of ready-to-wear fits, such as the skinny suit that is much more suited to my build and probably quite a few of you. With T.M Lewin if the jacket is a little broad on the shoulders or the trousers are a little too long, then T.M Lewin are able to adjust them to your measurements, meaning that investment I spoke about earlier is going to be much more rewarding.
Wanting to adapt the ‘work’ suit for a more stylish look, the T.M Lewin tailor at the Oxford Street store decided to bring in the chest slightly as well as bring up the trousers so they sit on the ankle rather than the shoe.
Now I know men aren’t one for spending a long time trying clothes on, but trust me this process was hassle free.
As they are a typical business tailor, the colours are kept quite traditional with your blacks, greys and navys as expected so you won’t find your statement suit here, but things such as shirts and cufflinks spoil you with options.
Again, going back to that investment point it’s always great when you can swap out items from your suit to dress the overall look down and with this suit, simple basics and striped tees do this perfectly as well as a rollneck. Again with your choice of shoes, guys are no longer frowned upon for wearing trainers with their suit trousers outside of their commute journey. I'm personally a big fan of pairing trainers with suits. I think it adds such a playful and youthful touch to tailoring.
T.M Lewin were kind enough to let me choose a suit but my thoughts on the whole process and the store itself are definitely my own. What kind of suit do you go for when it comes to ‘scrubbing up nicely’ as your relatives may comment on social media to embarrass you?
