The Curry's Collective
I have some exciting news that ten-year-old tech head Jordan would be bouncing off the walls with
When I was a younger I massively loved gadgets and all things tech. Yes I was the proud owner of all the Pokémon games and found myself in front of the PlayStation for large parts of the day. I used to always buy the latest games, consoles and I can safely say I got my money’s worth. Now being older and a lot busier, I don’t find the time to play games that much, but I still appreciate technology probably now more than ever. When I received an email from Curry’s PC World my inner-kid most definitely let out a little yelp of excitement.
What Curry’s invited me to be apart of is something they are calling The Curry’s Collective, which after taking the very cool term away, includes students who are at university who could benefit from some tech enhancements in their everyday life and who can be a student voice for Curry’s.
So after spending the day with the Curry’s PC World team, offering our opinions to some of their tech offering and talking to them about what our courses involve and how they could help us we agreed that I could enhance my ability to take better photos and video with a better camera.
Now the current camera I had was the Canon 60D, my first DSLR and honestly it’s a great camera. It’s helped me learn so much about photography and kick-start my passion to create videos.
With the blog now, I’m going out taking photos on a weekly basis and there’s one thing that’s always hindered my shoots on occasion (for those not interested in tech talk about cameras I apologise for my next paragraph).
A Canon 60D isn’t a full frame camera which means on a 50mm lens, my most used lens, to get a full outfit shot in narrow spaces is near-on impossible. I find myself, or the photographer shooting me, having to stand an extreme distance away to get a full shot. This is where Curry’s comes in.
Very kindly, Curry’s have upgraded me to the Canon 6D and it solves all the issues I’ve just mentioned. Although there are models passed this, for what I need, it is perfect. A full frame body, stronger colours than before, it’s going to make my editorials so much easier and better, and you may have seen some of my most recent posts benefiting from this.
I can’t wait to keep testing out this camera and I know already it’s going to benefit me a hell of a lot. Also, they have sent me a new Lenovo laptop to review on loan which I'll be writing about in the coming weeks and I'm intrigued how it'll be moving away from the MacBook.
