He’s a real cool dude and a talented guy when it comes to taking photos. Joe's currently looking to build up his portfolio, so I dropped him a message and we managed to do a quick shoot together. So if you're wanting to get some new photos taken and you're London based then Joe is your guy.
I’m the first person he’s photographed other than his very lovely girlfriend Olivia Purvis - sorry Joe for having a less attractive subject to photograph this time! It’s always nice meeting fellow creatives and menswear bloggers and before we did the shoot we went to the pub - a very manly activity - to talk about men’s fashion, men’s blogging and football, again all very manly. Then, we found a little road somewhere near Seven Dials to take a quick outfit post.
As you may already know, I’m normally one for simple garments. Blacks and greys are normally my thing, but I wanted to try something a little bolder. Topman have recently just brought out a new range of bohemian styled short sleeve shirts with an open, revere collar. It’s quite loud for me, but it’s the summer and occasionally it’s nice to try something that’s not entirely ‘you’. I think the challenge for me is trying something bold, but toning it down.
By wearing a denim jacket over the top, this particular one is from All Saints, it tones the shirt down slightly and makes it something I feel more comfortable in wearing. As I was heading to an event later I wore some skinny cropped trousers and my Primark oxblood loafers, which again received many a compliment, not that I’m surprised.
I think for both Joe and I it was strange for us to both be shooting with different people, but it was great to meet up, talk about what be both liked and disliked, and manage to create a really cool set of photos.
Turns out, we were both heading to the same event in the evening, which was a rooftop photography masterclass at John Lewis, meaning we got to talk a lot more about menswear and plan the next time we could meet up. Thank you Joe for the killer shots and hopefully I’ll be able to bring you some more photos from future shoots we do together real soon.
